Activities

The Centre for Digital Wellbeing at Sri Y N College has meticulously planned a series of activities with the aim of designing and implementing impactful measures that foster digital well-being. These activities include:

Digital Literacy Workshops: We will organise a series of interactive workshops to enhance digital literacy skills among students, faculty, and the wider community. These workshops will cover a range of crucial topics such as online safety, digital privacy, information literacy, and responsible social media usage. By providing practical knowledge and tools, we aim to empower individuals to navigate the digital landscape confidently and responsibly.

Mindfulness and Meditation Sessions: Recognising the challenges and distractions posed by the digital world, we will conduct mindfulness and meditation sessions that are specifically tailored to address these issues. Through these sessions, we will teach students various techniques for staying present, managing stress, and developing a healthy relationship with technology. By incorporating mindfulness practices into their daily lives, students can cultivate a sense of balance and well-being in the digital age.

Screen-Free Events: We understand the importance of disconnecting from screens and engaging in offline activities. To promote this, we will plan and organise a series of engaging events that encourage students to participate in activities that do not involve digital devices. These events may include sports tournaments, board game nights, art exhibitions, or outdoor adventures. By emphasizing physical activity, face-to-face interactions, and the enjoyment of the present moment, we hope to foster a healthier relationship with technology.

Tech-Free Zones: In order to provide spaces where students can take a break from digital devices and focus on relaxation, socializing, or studying without distractions, we will designate specific areas on campus as tech-free zones. These zones will be equipped with comfortable seating, reading materials, puzzles, and other activities that encourage unplugged downtime. By creating a conducive environment for offline engagement, we aim to promote balance and reduce the reliance on digital devices.

Peer-led Awareness Campaigns: To create a broader awareness of digital well-being, we will form student-led committees or clubs focused on promoting healthy digital habits. These groups will be responsible for designing and implementing awareness campaigns using creative mediums such as videos, posters, social media posts, and blogs. By sharing personal experiences, tips, and success stories, students can inspire and educate their peers about the importance of digital well-being.

Expert Talks and Webinars: We recognise the value of expert insights and perspectives in shaping healthy digital habits. To provide students with a deeper understanding of digital well-being, we will invite guest speakers, industry experts, psychologists, and digital well-being advocates to deliver talks or conduct webinars. These sessions will cover a wide range of topics, including the psychology of technology, building healthy digital habits, and the impact of technology on mental health. Interactive Q&A sessions will allow students to address specific concerns and queries.

Digital Detox Challenges: Encouraging students and faculty members to actively participate in digital detox challenges will be an integral part of our initiative. These challenges will involve committing to reducing screen time or eliminating certain digital activities for a set period. Throughout the challenge, we will provide support, resources, and incentives to motivate participants and make their digital detox experience successful.

Research Projects: Engaging students in research projects related to digital well-being will help deepen our understanding of the impact of technology on various aspects of life. Students will have the opportunity to conduct surveys, interviews, or experiments to explore how technology affects mental health, social relationships, and academic performance.

By implementing these planned activities, the Centre for Digital Wellbeing at Sri Y N College aims to create a supportive and balanced digital environment that fosters the well-being of students and the wider community.
