Introduction:

The department was born along with the College on July 11, 1949, the date of the establishment of the College. Mathematics was offered at the Intermediate level only in the beginning and it was introduced at the Degree level also with effect from 1954.

Function of Unique Importance:

Our department is the first in AP that has performed the Birth Centenary Celebrations of the renowned Indian Mathematician and Prodigy, Prof. Srinivasa Ramanujan, in December 1987 with pomp and glory.

• Dr G.S.V.S Sai baba, HOD of Mathematics, is RJD Nominee in Board of Studies of Adikavi Nannayya University, Rajahmundry, subject expert in the Board of Studies of Sir C.R.Reddy College, Eluru, subject expert in the Board of Studies of D.N.R College, Bhimavarma and subject expert in the Board of Studies of K.G.R.L College, Bhimavarm.
• Dr.GSVS.Saibaba is a mentor for JKC in Analytic Skills
• Sri Ch.Bala Raju is giving coaching in Quantitative Aptitude to the Final Year students for Entry into Services.
• Giving First, Second prizes to those students who got first and second ranks in Mathematics in previous year ending Exam to create healthy competition among the students.
• Further the department is giving First, Second and Third prizes for the winners by conducting quiz competition on Prof. Srinivasa Ramanujan’s birth anniversary day.
• Celebrating Prof. Srinivasa Ramanujan’s birth anniversary every year.
• Conducted One Day National Seminar on “Recent Trends in Mathematics” on 21st September, 2019, under RUSA – 2.0 Scheme.

Infrastructure:

• Apart from college library the department is maintaining a separate library with 300 volumes for quick reference by the staff members and students.Reference books, Text books, Question Banks are kept in the department library for ready reference.
• Department has one Computer with Pentium(R) Dual core system with internet connectivity for staff and students, College provides wifi facility for staff and students. There is 9 class rooms for Department of Mathematics. College consists of two class rooms with ICT facility, LED Screens and Smart boards facility for internal and external lectures.
