Introduction:

In the year 1949 B.A was started with History, Political Science and Economics. The three subjects were considered as one department under the headship of sri. G. Sree Rama Murthy. In the year 1968 Political Science was established as an independent department under the headship of Sri. M.V.Subba Rao. Since 1949 so many scholars served the department.

• Sri P. Maruthi Rao, M.A. Politics., M.A.Eng., M.A.Edu.,B.Ed., Lecturer, Working Since 12-06-2006

Highlights:

• The department offers add-on course “journalism” for all degree students.
• Dr.K.S.V.Ranga Rao is holding additional responsibility as Assistant Coordinator, School of Distance Education,Andhra University, Vishakapatnam, since 2008.
• Our department members are appointed as Members, University Representatives (subject experts) for Board of Studies to many Autonomous colleges of Adikavi Nannaya University area.
• Dr. K.S.V.Ranga Rao is also appointed by Commissioner Collegiate Education, Govt. of AP, Hyderabad as Academic Auditor for 3 autonomous colleges of Adikavi Nannaya university area during the year 2013-14 and 2014-15.
• Our department members are appointed as Adivisory Members, in many committees like discipline committee, anti ragging committee, librry committee, games committee, NSS Unit I&II, students feedback committee, examination committee, curricular aspects committee of Sri Y.N.College(A), Narsapur.
• Dr. K.S.V.Ranga Rao was appointed as lessons writer of Final B.A Public Administration students, School of Distance Education, Andhra University, Vishakapatnam.
• 60% of students are going to further studies i.e. B.Ed and post graduation.
• The pass percentage of our students has been about 92% continuously for the last five years.
• Our department members have presented papers in state and national seminars.
• Some articles of our department members got published in journals.
• Some of our students got selection in department of education and police.
• With the encouragement of the department, students take part in blood donation camps and NSS.

Infrastructure:

• Our department has a good library with 346 books for the purpose of students and staff.
• Our department was facilitated with a computer with internet.

Recent Achievements:

• K.S.V.Ranga Rao got Ph.D award.
• Dr. K.S.V.Ranga Rao did Minor Research Project.
• Our Alumni Dr. P.V.Subba Rao got Ph.D award.
• 60% of students are going to further studies i.e. B.Ed and post graduation.
• Our students got Pratibha awards ( state awards) during 2014-2015, 2015-2016.
• Our students won many prizes in essay writing, elocution and quiz compititions.
